The other day I heard a commercial state “We are all working harder and making less.” Is that not backwards? Shouldn’t we be working less and making more?
If you are working harder and making less – then do something else.
That may sound obvious – but lately I am running into people who seem to accept that we are on tough times and that our companies are cutting back and we must join in the sacrifice. Not true. This is not a sacrifice like cutting out on sugar so we can sustain a war effort as we saw during World War II. This is a sacrifice for the company who might be loosing money – many due to poor management in the first place. After all, you cannot tell how strong a company when everything is selling – it is only when things turns south that true leadership and character is shown.
So if your company is demanding more and paying less so you can help them get through it all – then think again. You have a choice.
You may choose to stay and make the sacrifice – but it is a choice.
But – if you contiue to work harder and make less – then it is time to do something else.
